Chewy is very picky when it comes to his food YEA! I know I'm suppose to bUy these special food blocks
(THEY ARE NOT CHEAP AND YOU HAVE TO FREEZE THEM OR THEY WILL GO BAD NO PRESERVATIVES).

But what am I to do? Hold him down and force feed these blocks down his throat? Maybe I should put them in the blender and use an eye dropper? No that won't work!! Holding Chewy down is a job in itself.Have to wrap him up like a burrito or all you get is teeth and claws..

ANYWAY!!

He straight up stuck his nose up at his last batch...(my outside wilds are getting a pricey treat..). BRAT!
.
Dont you just love..the "throw it to the floor..and dirty look..like YEAH..right..I aint eaten that crap!"....
He is already a spoiled brat...too....
Training...ME...up right.....DAMN THAT SQUIRREL!!.. :D

`Kaskiyeh, can you put a drop ofpeanut oil, maybe hemp oil, on the block to make it more savoury. I always oil up my pre-made food, maybe soften it up with a little salt water?

`Thanks I've tried all kinds of things, peanut butter he just licks off and throws the block on the floor. maybe I need to taste it and see why he hates them so!! Ha not going to do that, but I'll try different oils and let you know the outcome..

`I'm a little late to this post but I might have some advice. Maybe you should just stop buying those blocks all together. Try different rodent food. My chinchilla refused to eat chinchilla food, she would just flip the food bowl over. So we tried different rodent food and now the only food she eat is hamster food. I know weird lol.

At the nature center I volunteered at, some of the squirrels were picky too. We had to make their damn food by hand with fruits and the works!

`Well Chewy and I are at a stand off, he has to stay in his cage until he eats his vegies, which seems to work, and let me tell you I tasted one of those blocks he is suppose to eat and I don't blame him for throwing it on the floor..It's truly amazing that the outside squirrels will eat anything I give them, and then we have Chewy he is just spoiled rotten..
You haven't seen anything until you see these cats run for their lives when he's hot on their trail.

`lol the thing I hate the most is when the pick the food, put it to their mouth like they're gonna eat it and THEN they throw it to the floor!

As long as Chewy isn't starving then you're doing something right!

`when Chewy gets his bowl of vegies he's throws them around his cage then he picks out what he wants to eat, his favorite is corn on the cob, sugar snap peas, rose buds, and oh yes wild raspberries which I have to go out and search for cuz he doesn't like store bought..

`Yes Chewy does seem to be very spoiled, but I'm sure you wouldn't have it any other way!
